<p>This memorial event was the culmination of the project when the participants released their letters in painted glass bottles into the water at the Titanic Pump House near HMS Caroline.</p>
<p>Members of the public were invited to bring their ancestor’s story and write a message for a bottle which was provided on site and was thrown into Alexandra Dock.</p>
<p>The sea of lights was a poignant reminder of those who died in the First World War.<img decoding="async" class="alignleft size-large wp-image-1131" src="https://historyhubulster.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/Bottles-waiting-to-go-1024x683.jpg" alt="Bottles waiting to go" width="654" height="436" srcset="https://historyhubulster.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/Bottles-waiting-to-go-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https://historyhubulster.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/Bottles-waiting-to-go-300x200.jpg 300w, https://historyhubulster.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/Bottles-waiting-to-go-768x512.jpg 768w, https://historyhubulster.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/Bottles-waiting-to-go-2x1.jpg 2w, https://historyhubulster.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/Bottles-waiting-to-go.jpg 1848w" sizes="(max-width: 654px) 100vw, 654px" /></p>
